About Us

The Baylor Riding Association (B.R.A.) is a club dedicated to teaching riders of all experience levels the joys of horsemanship. We own 10 horses currently boarded at the C-Bar Ranch in Valley Mills, TX. It's conveniently located just 30 minutes from the Baylor campus. The ranch is owned by Larry and Martha Montgomery, who have supported the B.R.A. for many years. Because of their partnership with us, we are privileged with being able to ride through over 1,600 acres of beautiful Texas countryside.

We participate in many activities at Baylor University and around Central Texas, such as The "Heart O’ Texas Fair and Rodeo Parade", "The Baylor Homecoming Parade", and "Dia Del Oso". We also help with C-Bar Ranch’s biannual trail ride each semester, which includes camping and horseback-riding for an entire weekend. For our members and guests, we offer free riding lessons to help ensure that you are prepared with everything you will need to know while on horseback.

We pride ourselves on building long-lasting friendships while working with our horses, and welcome anyone who is interested in horseback-riding to the club. All of our horses are rated by difficulty level on an A through D scale. Riders are permitted on certain horses based on their experience and skill level. A and B horses are for beginner riders who still need a little more time learning the basics. C and D horses are for intermediate to advanced riders looking to build on the knowledge they already have. Whether you have never touched a horse before, or if you've been riding for years, we have a horse that will work for you.

Trail ride is our main focus out at the ranch, and we are blessed with the best of scenic Texas hill-country. We have trails that cross creeks, climb rocky hills, weave through canyons, and journey through fields of wildflowers. The perfect stress reliever from a hard working week of classes.
